Isn't this a great looking antique cream separator? It was manufactured by the Albaugh Dover Co. of Chicago Illinois. The Albaugh Dover Co. was started by George and Henry Albaugh, along with another man, in Chicago in 1900. They moved to the Central business district in 1902. The "New Butterfly" cream separator was remarkable for its patented easy cleaning skimming device. It was sold directly to farmers on convenient payment terms. It would look great in anybody's house; you don't have to be an antique buff to enjoy looking at it. It was called "The New Butterfly" and its serial number is 6573. It is in just as good of condition as it looks in the pictures. All of the parts fit together fine and it appears that nothing is missing. It does work, at least everything spins that is supposed to; but we haven't tried to make cream with it. This separator weighs just about 100 pounds. It is made of cast iron or some of it may be cast steel. It will be shipped disassembled to protect it from damage and to make it cheaper to ship. We will include a c.d. disc of pictures to help you re-assemble it.

Most of the things you see in our store have never been owned by a collector or been in an antique shop. They have come straight from the families and farms that have used them and stored them away in their attics, barns and woodsheds for decades. They are real things that were used by real people, so they are not going to be perfect. You should expect them to have character. When we describe the condition, we mean compared to anything else that old. I will do my best to point out, either in the description and/or pictures, anything I notice that to me is significant. But, I can't mention every little thing. So, please look at the pictures and read the description carefully. If you need different views in the pictures or you have any questions, call or E-mail me before you buy. We will be happy to reply. We want you to be satisfied with your purchase. Our items are offered as a piece of history for collectors to be used for decoration or display. We don't represent that they will do the job they were designed for years ago, so once you buy them, how you use them is up to you.
