This antique stoneware jar has a red glass lid. It has a patent date of March 1st. 1892. Cast into the lid is "The Weir". This is a very unusual piece of stoneware and a great addition to your collection. This jar is about 8" high and 4" in diameter. You can see there is crazing on it but no cracks. You can also see in the pictures, that one ear is broken off of the lid.
Most of the things you see in our store have never been owned by a collector or been in an antique shop. They have come straight from the families and farms that have used them and stored them away in their attics, barns and woodsheds for decades. They are real things that were used by real people, so they are not going to be perfect. You should expect them to have character.
