This is quite a unique little decorative doll sleigh. I don't know anything about its age or who made it. The 60 plus year old lady in charge of the estate said it had always been in her mother's house, but she had no idea where it came from. It is all handmade of wood and has a coat or two of what looks like orange shellac over the paint job. The very bottom of the wood runners has a metal piece attached. The only repair on it is shown in a picture; one handle cracked and was repaired. The sleigh measures 23" long by 18" high at the back and 10" wide.
Most of the things you see in our store have never been owned by a collector or been in an antique shop. They have come straight from the families and farms that have used them and stored them away in their attics, barns and woodsheds for decades. They are real things that were used by real people, so they are not going to be perfect. You should expect them to have character. When we describe the condition, we mean compared to anything else that old. I will do my best to point out, either in the description and/or pictures, anything I notice that to me is significant. But, I can't mention every little thing. So, please look at the pictures and read the description carefully.
